Ladies and Gentlemen... it is time.

Breeding season is upon us once again. We have already set up the "date night" with a few girls we thought were in "season", but it turns out they weren't feeling it. We are patiently waiting on all of the girls to be ready so we can have babies early March. We were trying to get a buck with some "milky-er" bloodlines in him but time got away from us with that one. So, we are using Aurthur (yes- we hate how the old owner spelled it, too, try writing that on everyone's paperwork!) for breeding this year. We will use Roots to breed Jill because Jill is not registered and Roots had a problem with his paperwork that made it so we couldn't register him as well. That's a long story.

Point aside, if all goes well for the next few weeks- babies will be coming soon! In total, we are planning on breeding back 14 does this year- 6 of which are first fresheners (their first time having kids). Are we going to regret it amongst all the madness come kidding season? Definitely. But once they all kid and babies are on the ground, its smooth sailing from there!

Lucky for us ALL of the does and doelings know what a milk stand is and are happy to get up and eat. Most of this years first fresheners are totally fine with their udders being touched while up there so that will make things a lot easier! We try and get them used to it at a young age because there's nothing that makes me more sad than a foot to a 2 gallon pail full of milk! We purchased a simple pulse milk machine to help us with milking milking them all daily as well, I'm already so excited for that!

Enjoy this photo of FRESH babies from last year. These are the twin doelings, Noodle and Beans.
